As you can see, the writing life is just like the movies. I have an assistant, a publisher ringing my phone off the hook because I’m late on deadline and they need the manuscript ASAP, stacks of notebooks and looms of paper. Books line the walls and typewriters and pens litter the table.

But if you squint your eyes just the right way, you’ll see the truth about a writer writing. This is how I bring you stories. This is where the work is done.

This . . . is writing Axiom-man.

Roses and Ashes

Today we layed my grandmother to rest.

This was my tidbit on Facebook about it yesterday:

“Morning. Tomorrow morning we lay my grandmother to rest. She had passed over a year back but due to timing and other factors, she will be laid to rest tomorrow. I like the idea of one’s final resting place. My faith aside, just knowing that at one point I’m going to be lying in a box surrounded by cushion and going to bed for the last time is comforting. Sort of a well-earned sleep. (At least, the goal is to make it well-earned.) So for tomorrow, I’m genuinely happy. My grandmother gets to go to bed for the last time and have her well-earned sleep. Good for her.”

Roses and ashes. Rest well. See you again one day.

One of the new features of Patreon 2.0 is photography. Not just plain click-click of the camera, but fun shots with a little bit of pizzazz to make it interesting. It’s also fun for me as a creator to play around with photos and make something cool out of them.

The pic above is one such example of the pile of photography available at Patreon 2.0 and, yes, the one I’m showing here had to be a car. Well, Hotwheels, right? Right.

Caught in Black Headlights is Complete

(Not official cover. Just a snippet of it.)

Last week I finished CAUGHT IN BLACK HEADLIGHTS, but if you’re a reader of my newsletter, you get advance news so those guys already know about it. It is a book of text and photos, my first in that regard. The next closest thing would be CANISTER X COMIX No. 3, in which photos were used instead of art for the panels.

This one is set for a spring release, looking at late March or early April. Date to be determined.

AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY comes first. (Presently with the editor.)

Gonna be a good year for books. Lots of things planned and, as you can already see, we got 2024’s first two releases already lined up. Are you caught up on everything?

It is true.

It is time.

Patreon 2.0 launches this November 13. I’m aiming to premiere the trailer Sunday evening then do a full-blast posting Monday to launch the page and invite one and all into the PATREON REALM OF HEROES AND MONSTERS.

There are two tiers and they’ll be displayed in full on launch day, but to sum them up, they are:

Tip Jar: $1. Just a general tip to help me along in the art world with my deepest thanks.

All-Access: $5. For just five bucks a month you get everything content that I put on the Web plus the following just for you:

Artwork only revealed here. Nowhere else. Public art is here.

Learn what goes on behind the scenes in bringing you books, comics, art, podcasts, videos, and more. (This is stuff I don’t talk about or show openly.)

Entertaining and/or informative videos made only for patrons.

It began with GIGANTI-GATOR DEATH MACHINE and continues with TWO other running serials.

This is Today: Work Life

Outside, fall has settled. The gray clouds are out. My kind of weather.

This is a fitting picture of work life at the moment. Lots of work in progress (the leaves), with ominous gray clouds hanging overhead (projects yet to be done). It’s been a long time since I’ve had sixteen thousand things on the go. (Okay, not that many but you get the idea.)

I’m thankful to be working again. I’m thankful to have enough on my plate to keep the creative machine going.

I’m thankful I’m no longer in my own personal gray forest. Just a gray forest of work.

Sounds good to me.
