    Goodbye TinyLetter; Hello MailerLite

    canister x transmission collections

Well, MailChimp pulled the plug on TinyLetter, the newsletter engine I’ve using to send THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION for about eight years. It was a great platform because it had a simple and direct, user-friendly interface and was perfect for a text-based newsletter like mine. But, alas, all good things must come to an end, I suppose, so thanks to fellow author Bobby Nash, he turned me on to MailerLite and from there I’ll be able to continue to send out new issues of the newsletter week after week. This change, of course, will involve some link adjusting and some web design stuff since all my sites have the TinyLetter subscribe box.

Either way, we now have a new provider and there should be no interupption in service.

You’ll also receive a free thriller novelette upon subscribing. Goes out Saturdays.

Goodbye, Tinyletter. Thank you for your service.

If you’d like to be a part of THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION while I finish getting things all set up, please email me and I’ll add you to the subscriber list. You can also use the form above. The email-me option is there in case of glitches.

    Thanks.

All-Access: $5. For just five bucks a month you get everything content that I put on the Web plus the following just for you:

    Status Report – 110723:

Patreon. That is this week’s focus. The trailer is done and is premiering at 7PM CST November 12, 2023 (this Sunday evening) on YouTube.

There are so many cool things about this new page and as a creator I get to play around with every single one of them.

I plan to send out THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION as usual this Saturday then a special Patreon Announcement edition on November 13, 2023. Might want to subscribe to make sure you get it.

As well, promotion continues for ZOMTROPOLIS: A RECORD OF LIFE IN A DEAD CITY. I placed an order with the printer over the weekend so in the next couple weeks or so there will be an unboxing video revealing it as well as the two new collected editions of THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION and a couple other titles I need some stock for.

Watch this space, as they say.

But it’d be better if you subscribed. For a creator, a subscription to something they do is important. It helps in so many ways on so many levels and, best of all, it’s free. Costs you nothing other than a click.

I should probably put out a list of free things readers and fans can do for their favorite creators for free. I know money’s tight for everybody these days and I know there are a lot of readers and supporters out there who would like to try a creator’s work but can’t for whatever reason. That’s understandable and totally valid.

So, yeah, if you can do something for a creator that doesn’t cost you a cent, take the second or two and go ahead and do it. The support is still there, and in the arts, as cliche as it sounds, it’s not always about the money. Art is meant to be shared. Creators just ask money for it so they can buy the time they need to make it for you.

All right, enough rambling. Time to get back to work.

    Status Report – 101723:

ZOMTROPOLIS: A RECORD OF LIFE IN A DEAD CITY is back from the editor therefore now it’s my turn to do go over the edits then do one final pass before book production and press time. As of now, we’re on track for a Halloween-ish release.

You guys are gonna love this tale. It’s been in the works since 2008. One of my “eventual books” though it originally was never intended as such but, alas, life happens and projects get set aside so other things can be born. Since 2008, obviously, I written and drawn a lot of stuff, but it was time to finally finish ZOMTROPOLIS and here we are.

Stay tuned for more news as this project develops.

In other news, we’re just working and establishing a strong foundation for PROJECT REBUILD 2.0. Been at it for a few months now and it’s paying off.

More thought is being given to the new Patreon page and how I’ll approach it from a content angle and how I’ll be able to pull it off without burning out.

Like the above, more news as this develops.

Lastly, I just finished a freelance editing project for a client. In other words, I’m open for business so if you need an editor, a formatter, or a book cover designer, I’m your man. Tons of experience. Details here.

Okay, time to get back to work.

    Until next time.

  • The Great Patreon Dilemma

    The Great Patreon Dilemma

    Patreon Logo

As you know, I once had a Patreon page. With it, I’d air articles and essays, behind-the-scenes stuff, serialized novels, and exclusive stuff for my patrons. The problem was, for the amount of work I was putting in, it didn’t do well monetarily, so I shut it down as I was basically making a buck an hour working on it.

However, and in a bit of a dilemma, I’m thinking of bringing my Patreon page back but under a new, simpler model.

It would basically be this to start and, no doubt, would evolve over time.

    Two tiers:

    1) A mere tip jar for a buck. Just a simple way of saying thanks for all the content.

    2) 5 bucks flat fee per month. This would get you everything I share publicly plus content just for patrons, like a serialized novel, one to be read before anybody else.

That’s it. The content would be regular as I’m producing stuff all the time, but by sharing it behind a Patreon paywall, then I get something out of it too, and also have an avenue to share stuff I don’t share with the general public. This could be special videos, special commentary, special thoughts, excerpts of my work, and more.

I still have my page but it’s inactive at the moment. I just need to flick the switch and under this new model, folks would have a chance to check out all the back-content plus the new stuff to come.

It’s not a question of if this will happen. It’s a question of when.

My only fear is it’ll flop again. But maybe not. I do know I can make it work. Just need to give it some time to grow.

    We’ll see.

    Status Report – 091823:

It’s official. It’s done. As per this blog entry, ZOMTROPOLIS: A RECORD OF LIFE IN A DEAD CITY is complete. See the entry for the next steps in the process.

Also what’s done is THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: YEAR FOUR and THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: THE LONG YEAR FIVE. Those went off to press late last week. Now it’s just an issue of the printer processing the files, sending me a proof, me approving it then getting it into distribution. Like the other collected editions, they will be available in paperback and eBook and contain a bonus issue of the newsletter exclusive to those collections.

We’re programmed until the end of November thus far in terms of Book Spotlight Videos and the REALM OF HEROES AND MONSTERS: STORY TIME podcast. Other stuff is complete behind the scenes but not uploaded yet.

For those who missed it, THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION newsletter is back. The new issue went out this past Saturday. Subscribe here for this Saturday’s issue.

Other than that, I’m pleased that I finally was able to share the FREDRIKUS animated short with you. I’ve been wanting to for the past couple of years but needed the adapter to connect my very old VCR to my also-old computer. I finally got one and the video was shared. There was some additional brief animation on the reel as well along with a few pieces of artwork. I’m not sure if I’ll upload it or not. I’ll have to think of a way to make it longer because the segments of animation and the few pics last all of twenty seconds. But they’re cool pics. Three-point perspective, some modern, some sci-fi.

    We’ll see.

Anyway, I’m pretty tired and I still have work to do.

    A.P. Fuchs signing off.

    Peace.
