It is true.

It is time.

Patreon 2.0 launches this November 13. I’m aiming to premiere the trailer Sunday evening then do a full-blast posting Monday to launch the page and invite one and all into the PATREON REALM OF HEROES AND MONSTERS.

There are two tiers and they’ll be displayed in full on launch day, but to sum them up, they are:

Tip Jar: $1. Just a general tip to help me along in the art world with my deepest thanks.

All-Access: $5. For just five bucks a month you get everything content that I put on the Web plus the following just for you:

Artwork only revealed here. Nowhere else. Public art is here.

Learn what goes on behind the scenes in bringing you books, comics, art, podcasts, videos, and more. (This is stuff I don’t talk about or show openly.)

Entertaining and/or informative videos made only for patrons.

It began with GIGANTI-GATOR DEATH MACHINE and continues with TWO other running serials.

Photos taken EXCLUSIVELY for this page. Sometimes I add my own sparkle, other times not, but they’re always interesting.

Quick little notes or did-you-knows just for you.

Usually bits of info that are hopefully insightful or useful.

For those interested in the craft of storytelling through various mediums, both the creative side and the business side.

Patreon 2.0 Update

Patreon 2.0 is coming along. You should see the new layout, the new features, the new coolness of it all. I’m working hard to get things ready for you and to entertain you when you become a patron. The page is still a work-in-progress at this point with no official launch date. However, at the rate things are going, it’ll be soon-ish.

Just keep checking back here at the blog for an announcement as well as on all the socials.

New FREDRIKUS Episode

Fredrikus has returned–at least for one episode–in his four-color glory for your reading pleasure. At the time I wrote this strip, I was in a corny mood so, heads up, it’s a corny one but you might get a chuckle.

Readers of FREDRIKUS know I flip-flop between sarcastic drama and joke strips. This one’s a joke strip.

Anyway, stopping listening the man writing you and go see what happens when an anthropomorphic dog takes on a lobster. (You can also click on the graphic above to check out the strip. Don’t forget to click an ad after reading and support the ol’ dog.)

Fred the Dog in Once Upon a Weiner (2000 VHS Animation Demo Reel)

Fred the Dog in Once Upon a Weiner

Here it is, the cartoon that started it all. Made in 2000, each frame was drawn, inked, and colored by yours truly. This is 2D animation the old-fashioned way. No computer assistance outside of the coloring, staging the frames, and the sound. Everything else was good ol’ pencil, ink, and paper.

This is the dog that inspired my webcomic, FREDRIKUS. Of course, in the webcomic, he’s middle-aged compared to this reel where he’s still a young guy doing something stupid.

It was real cool and real fun to watch this reel after 20 years. Yes, it’s pixelated. Was originally formatted for VHS and the tape’s been sitting around gathering dust for a couple decades. I don’t know how much wear that puts on the tape itself (degrading over time), but I’m still glad I got to salvage this cartoon and share it with you.

A.P. Fuchs 2023 Studio Tour

Well, here it is: Home sweet home.

It’s definitely not like other writers’ offices with books everywhere and a computer. It’s also not like your traditional artist studio with the smell of paint on the air and lots of brushes and pens laid out.

When I say in my newsletter I work in a bunker, well, you’ll see that I’m not far off.

My studio was originally going to be a basement bathroom but the previous owners of the house didn’t finish it. They got as far as framing it and marking out on the cement floor what goes where (i.e. the tub here, the toilet there, etc). So, I went out and got a roll of carpet, cut it to size, put it down, then put all my equipment where I wanted it to be. What I forgot to mention in the video is the computer desk I’m using I’ve had since I was about 5 or 6. It’s small, but I’ve made it work and the room is too small to put in something new from IKEA or wherever. Besides, one of the drawers has a sticker on it one of my kids put on it when they were toddlers. Yeah, I’m sentimental like that.

Anyway, this is it, the A.P. Fuchs 2023 Studio Tour. This is where I produce my books and comics and make sure they get out to you.

Fredrikus Update

As you know, I’m neck-deep in book production. As of this writing, I’m proofing the galley for GIGANTI-GATOR DEATH MACHINE: TRIPLE FEATURE and that’s taking up most of my time. However, I have been picking at an unaired FREDRIKUS episode and plan to share it once it’s done. When that may be, I don’t know.

The comic will come back. I just need the time and headspace to finish making some books first.

Status Report – 031321

Status Report – 031321:

I’ve been keeping busy as I recover from burn out. Fredrikus is getting my top priority. New episodes have been airing and I’m having a ball making them for you. I also seemed to have found my comic-making groove, which is a good thing.

As for other projects, they are temporarily on the back burner as I ease my way back into creating. They’re not going away and will get done, but my health comes first and I’m content just doing Fredrikus for the time being.
