A long time ago, a fellow author and I were talking about book reviews and how some of them can be so malicious.

During that conversation, my friend said something that would change how I approach writing and producing books from then on forth.

Watch this vLog to hear what he had to say and how it can apply to your own writing or artistic efforts.

    blog updates

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that things are still occurring on this blog on the backend. Some changes you’ll see up front, like new graphics or some links. Other changes are occurring behind the scenes, stuff that Google notices but not you, dear reader. The good news is, if Google notices it, so will you and will have an easier time finding it.

In the meantime, maybe make a game of it. How many subtle changes can you spot as we conduct more blog updates?

For now, please check out the latest release, AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY and other Axiom-man titles in the Book and Comic Shop.

Batman Batmobile Hotwheels Shorts and Reels No. 10

    Hot Wheels Logo

Here ya go! Another three batmobiles for your enjoyment. I do plan on doing some more batmobile shorts compilation videos. It just takes time. See, I have a tech issue that I have to use as a work-around for every video I create. Due to the age of my computer, it does not, for some reason, fully accept the driver off my smartphone when it comes time to transfering the video files from the phone to the computer. Bizarrely, I can transfer everything but videos. When I transfer a video, the thing copies over in full but only the audio is available. I don’t know why, so I have to format the videos on my phone prior to transferring them to the computer. Didn’t have to do this with my old phone, but tech moves forward and this old desktop work horse remains the same.

Anyway, give me some time and we’ll do up some more compilation videos for my hotwheels collection.

In the meantime, I offer you the following:

Hotwheels Batman and Catwoman 2-pack – Buy at Amazon
Hotwheels The Riddler Car – Buy at Amazon
Hotwheels Penguin Car – Buy at Amazon

Please subscribe to my YouTube channel for regular videos and shorts! Pop Culture, superheroes and monsters, and collectibles galore (plus many other cool features like podcasts).

    Thanks.

And, of course, if you have any collector video ideas or suggestions, you can contact me here.

Did you know I have a dedicated Twitter/X feed solely for showcasing hotwheels? Check it out here and follow along. You get a new hotwheels video every hour on the hour 7 days a week between 6AM and 6PM CST, including batmobile hotwheels videos!

    See you there!

    status-report-041724

    Status report – 041724:

All right, we’ve got a full roster going on over here. Between the stuff you see on a daily basis and working on stuff behind the scenes that you’ll see eventually, we have our hands full.

    Right now we’re:

    1) Writing AXIOM-MAN: THE SUMMONING
    2) Freelance editing for a client
    3) Creating daily content for you both here on this blog and across the Web
    4) Getting the second season of the Realm of Heroes and Monsters: Story Time podcast ready for launch (I’m building a queue to ensure you get it weekly)

    And a day job.

But basically, our creative focus is on the Axiom-man books for this year. My main goal is to get the first drafts done by summer with, say, mid-July completion at the latest. Then all the heavy lifting is done and it’s just an issue of cleaning things up before publication.

The secret to getting all the above done and maintaining the schedule is just that: maintaining the schedule. Work on something every day and eventually you’ll get what you need out of it.

    Back to work.

This has been your Status Report for 041724.

Collecting 101: How I Afford my Toy Collection Part 2

Canister X Mailbag - Super Powers Flashpoint Batman and Tim Drake Robin Unboxing - 01122024 thumbnail

This is a continuation of the original article, which you can read here.

Talk to any serious collector and we’ll all admit to having an addiction to the hobby, and the problem is, like any addiction, you can start to run up the tab real quick.

Here are some more ways to avoid that:

    5) Cash-back credit cards. Most credit card companies offer cash-back cards, with 1-4% cash back, depending on what you buy and where you buy it. Grab a discounted collectible with it and you automatically save a bit just by using your card.

    6) Find reliable discount/coupon finders for your Web browser. I use Honey and it’s saved me a bundle. Plus, Cash back. You can take a look here for info on it.

    7) Collector’s can be impulse buyers, and while this is great for snagging a last-second deal, the impulsive buy could also drain your wallet. If the item can wait, keep it in your shopping cart. Often, online vendors put stuff on sale and it’s happened to me several times where items in my cart are suddenly discounted.

    8) Shop local and check the clearance aisle. Like comic book writer Harvey Pekar once said regarding rummaging around at garage sales for jazz records, “Most of the time it’s a waste of time but every once in a while . . .” And some collectors out there, myself included, know the glorious feeling of finding something cool on the clearance shelf for next to (relatively) nothing.

    9) Dollar stores. They basically clear out what the chains couldn’t/can’t. Example: my Marvel Legends Retro action figure collection (which I’ll do a full showcase of on YouTube at some point) was all Dollarama. $5 a figure. Know what retail wanted? $21+ a figure. For what I have, I saved around $175 or so. I don’t have the whole set but most of them.

I hope the above gave you some more ideas on how to save while still collecting in whatever hobby. Maybe there’ll be a part three to this series if I think of something new? After all, there is more than one way to afford a toy collection.

    Cheers.

    Freelance days

That’s what we’re up to here at the Central. I have quite a few clients in line for edits and formatting. Going to be juggling these jobs with my own writing.

It’s fun doing publishing work for others because the above is all part of the creation process and you know creating is my thing.

If you’re interested in hiring me for one or more aspects of your project, information and rates are here. Man, the world publishing is fun.

    Cheers.

    Administration Day

    Administration Day

Yup. That’s what today is. It’s not glamorous nor exciting. But it needs to be done every now and then.

This is all for Coscom Entertainment and I’ve found over the years that the best way to keep track of all things going in and out of the business is to do a periodic check and print out any documents I will need some tax season.

Apples with apples, oranges with oranges throughout the year. This makes things so much easier instead of later going, “Where’s this?” or “Where’s that?”

As always, the principle at hand is Present You helping Future You. Sometimes it’s tough, true, but Future You always thank you later so let that be a motivator.

Time to get back to it. It’s administration day, after all.

New short video to air on YouTube later today.

    Peace.
