    Winnipeg Comiccon 2024 Appearance

    Winnipeg Comiccon

If you’re a reader of my newsletter you’ll know that I’m booked to table in Artist Alley at the Winnipeg Comiccon on October 25 to 27, 2024 at the RBC Convention Centre downtown. It’s a huge show and I’m excited to take a part in it after taking some breathing room from doing shows.

I also have a couple other conventions I’d like to lock down for this year but am still investigating. Some local book signings would be nice, too, but one thing at a time.

In the mean time, yeah, Winnipeg Comiccon 2024 appearance this fall.

    See you there!

    Status Report – 090622:

Yesterday marked the end of summer for me thus the end of my easier summer schedule. Today I’m preparing the fall one. Lots going on in the fall in terms of book production and releases as well as two comic convention appearances.

As a reminder, I will be at the following events so mark your calendars. I’ll have books for sale and you can bring copies from home for signature, if you’d like. I do not charge for autographs or pictures.

Winnipeg Comiccon – October 28 to 30, 2022 – RBC Convention Centre (Winnipeg)
    FanQuest – November 12 & 13, 2022 – Norwood Community Centre (Winnipeg)

Part of prepping for these appearances is ensuring I have enough book stock to take along with me so I’ve been slowly going through what I have and setting up an order at the printer for what I need. As long as my print order is in by the end of the month, that will allow enough time for printing and shipping.

I’ve also been reevaluating current and upcoming work in terms of what I reveal to the public about these projects. How many times have I said such-and-such will be ready for such-and-such a date and it hasn’t been? Sure, part of it had to do with me being ill. Another part had to do with summer. Another part had to do with my own disorganization. You’d think after all these years of doing this that I’d have this down to a science. But, again, in the big picture, being ill and spending a long time doing a webcomic would slow things down in terms of release(s).

    No matter.

    New season.

    New start.

    Here we go.

This has been your Status Report for 090622.

  • ‘Twas the 1.5 Weeks Before Winter Hibernation

This is me the first time I tabled at the Central Canada Comic Con in 2007. It was also the same weekend my son was born. I’ve tabled every year since.
It’s coming up soon, but beginning November 1, I will be switching over to broadcast mode for the winter. Pre-programmed content will still air on my social media channels. I’ll also be broadcasting from this blog and, of course, there is my weekly newsletter (which you should totally be reading).

    In work news:

Progress is being made on the book front, with many titles waiting in the wings to go through the production process before getting into your hands. This was an experiment for me–writing books in bulk–and was a lot of fun. It also meant not releasing anything for a year, but still a good experiment nonetheless. What this means for output in the future, I don’t know. I do need to be releasing titles more frequently, however. This blog will also have details on each project as they come out. You’ll also learn the names of Secret Projects Nos. 1 and 2 (which are written).

Also upcoming is the Central Canada Comic Con from October 27 to 29 at the RBC Convention Centre here in Winnipeg. This is my last public appearance for the year and, possibly, well into next year or even until 2019. I have some plans and experiments I want to run, but I can’t do them if I’m committed to shows and signings. It just makes for too much work, and I’m not as spry as I used to be when I first started out in this business.

I’m looking forward to hunkering down for the winter. I’m looking forward to the quiet. I’m looking forward to working without other things buzzing in the back of my brain.

I’m looking forward to making more books.

  • St. Valentine’s Horror Con 2017 Appearance

    St. Valentine's Horror Con

I will be tabling at C4’s St. Valentine’s Horror Con on February 11 and 12 at the RBC Convention Centre here in Winnipeg.

Last year was their first year doing the show and it was an absolute blast. I look forward to seeing what’s in store this year and watching it grow.

Monsters will abound as will my zombie books and other horror titles.

    See you there.

  • C4 Comic Con Appearance 2016

    thisisC4logo2016

From October 28-30 I’ll be in Artist Alley at the Central Canada Comic Con (C4) here in Winnipeg at the RBC Convention Centre. This will mark my tenth year doing the event. Sheesh. Has it been that long? I started doing it in 2007. Damn. Getting old. But it’s a great show. A ton of people come out–over 40,000–and celebrate nerdy goodness for three days. I’ll be there, full-blown display and all. Books and comics will be available for purchase and signature. You can also bring books from home and I’ll be happy to sign those as well.

  • C4 Winnipeg Pop Culture Expo Appearance

Posted on February 29, 2016 1:14 pm by A.P. Fuchs

    thisisC4logo2016

Today I committed to appearing at C4’s Winnipeg Pop Culture event on April 9th and 10th at the RBC Convention Centre. This will be the first time in two years C4 has hosted a spring two-day event. The last two-day event was in 2013, and in 2014 and 2015 they held a couple of one-day events–one in the spring, one in early fall–before the big show toward the end of the year.

I’m looking forward to it and getting my geek on. My plan is to bring the whole catalogue just like I did for Horror Con. I still have a small amount of free copies of A Stranger Dead available so these will be given away with each purchase. Offer good while supplies last, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Not getting anymore in because that book is long out-of-print.

Look forward to seeing you there.

  • C4 Horror Con 2016 Recap

Posted on February 15, 2016 5:45 pm by A.P. Fuchs

On February 13 and 14 I attended C4’s first Horror Con here in Winnipeg at the RBC Convention Centre.

C4 has been around for a long, long time and has run multiple conventions, but this was their first horror one. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect or if, from a tabling point-of-view, it would be a good venue for me. Sure, there was the obvious: I write monster fiction and that should do well at a horror show, but that doesn’t matter if nobody shows up.

Well, let me tell you, people did show up. A lot of people. I don’t know the exact numbers, but Saturday was hopping and there were times I had so many people getting books from me it was hard to keep up. There were a few lulls, but they didn’t last long and I was back to explaining my books, talking horror and having a good time.

    My table:

    Horror Con 2016 Table
    Horror Con 2016 Table

    tableends

On Saturday, I was on a panel for writing horror along with Chadwick Ginther and J.H. Moncrieff. It lasted about an hour and we talked about writing gore, going for the gross out, killing characters, that little nonsense thing called writer’s block, and a whole ton more.

    The panel:

In order: Chadwick Ginther, J.H. Moncrieff, A.P. Fuchs

As usual, my zombie trilogy, Undead World, moved like crazy. I had to bring extra copies in for Sunday. As well, Magic Man Plus 15 Tales of Terror was a popular choice along with Viscious Verses and Reanimated Rhymes.

In the end, I’m pleased to report it was a very solid show, both in terms of fun and selling books. I was shocked because my total-books-sold tally was not far under all those copies moved at C4 last fall, the big show that I wait all year for and with an attendance of over 40,000 people. This certainly makes a point about niche marketing.

But all this book number junk aside, in the end, I was just glad to go, hang out with my convention friends and share in a common fandom.

On February 13th and 14th I’ll be at C4’s first St. Valentine’s Day Horror Con at the RBC Convention Centre here in Winnipeg. I’m looking forward to it because I have a ton of monster fiction and it’ll be a good chance to connect with readers who will be there looking for that sort of material. I’m excited to see how it goes. As a bonus, I still have some copies of A Stranger Dead available and will be giving those away with each purchase. (Good while supplies last.)

Stop by and tell me about your favorite monster.

    Hope to see you there.
