Canister X Mailbag – Bigfoot Country Unboxing – July 192024
This was a Kickstarter by friend and fellow author Alex McGilvery. I mean, who doesn’t love bigfoot stories and tales of the sasquatch? Besides, it’s good to support your colleagues in the biz and back their projects when possible.
This book is out and officially released. You can find your copy of BIGFOOT COUNTRY here:
Authortube: What to do When You Write Yourself into a Corner
(and How to Get Out of It)
It’s okay. It happens. Sometimes the story rolls so strong you just go with it and see where it takes you. Unfortunately, though I firmly believe the Story knows best, sometimes a writer finds themselves in a place where they have written themselves into a corner and there is no way to move the story forward. Everything and everybody in your tale is stuck and locked in Time. You tried to fix it but only made it worse. You don’t want to scrap it or rewrite a pile of stuff that came before this point, and even if you backtracked, it wouldn’t be the same. What you have is perfect except . . . you’re in a corner.
Here’s how you get out of it and get the story moving again.

. . . A.P. Fuchs and welcome to my blog where superheroes and monsters and Pop Culture reign supreme. I’m an independent writer, cartoonist, publisher, and freelancer in the worlds of books and comics, and have been so for the past twenty-five years. This is Canister X, my official web site and the Realm of Heroes and Monsters, where we’re entering summer mode.
Most certainly you’ll be receiving content, but it’s going to follow the theme of the CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: YEAR SEVEN of fluidity. We’re gonna play it casual. We have a major deadline due for the fall for THE AXIOM-MAN SAGA so that project is going to require me putting all hands on deck to get done in time.
My Patreon page is here. It’s a very important place where I post serial novels, serial comics, essays and articles on the creative arts business, behind-the-scenes insights, art, photos, and more. Join me and my other patrons and be a part of something entertaining and interesting with consistent content. Check out the sweet trailer for the page.
I’m also the writer/artist behind the webcomic, Fredrikus, which you can read from the beginning here.
On Saturdays, I send out my newsletter, The Canister X Transmission. It’s a weekly newsletter where we all come together after the week, take a breather, regroup, and head into the weekend. Presently, we are in Year Seven. Join me and my readers and fans of fandom. I love the fan community as it’s a wonderful group of people to be part of, both physically and virtually. See you on the inside.
Since we’re now heading into summer, this is just a quick announcement to say that the content on this site won’t be as regular as usual, likewise for my other social platforms. The big reason is we’re on major deadline for the BATTLE OF POWER Trilogy for THE AXIOM-MAN SAGA, the second-biggest reason being I have some holiday time coming up and that will take away from entertaining you guys and, in the interest of self-care, it’s a good idea for me to just produce on a casual basis until the fall.
We all need to recharge our batteries now and then.
But, again, don’t worry. There will be content, but following the YEAR SEVEN model of fluidity versus a stringent schedule.
Be sure to check back here often. You never know what might pop up and catch your interest.
Have a great summer. Hope you like the Summer 2024 Content Schedule!
Publishing Books: The First Half of 2024 in Review
Since we’re at the halfway mark of 2024, I thought this would be a good time to review what’s been published this year so far. Link to book page in the descriptions, but this is where we stand so far in publishing books this year.
There will be a publishing gap until later in the fall. There might be one thing, but that’s in floating status at the moment. The work is done. Just an issue of assembly.
AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY:
Surrounded by a strange red mist, Axiom-man finds himself in a world not his own. Not again. Meeting a man who calls himself the Crimson Cloak, Axiom-man and this red stranger must fight their way through a hotel of madness where each new floor brings on a deadly challenge. Go to book page.
CAUGHT IN BLACK HEADLIGHTS: POETRY COLLECTION:
All right, World, this is how it’s going to be: Rhymes and verse, Melodies rehearsed, across life’s rocky sea. Read a poem, maybe two, pick three if you wish to dare. Ramblings and coherence, sometimes jots of incoherence, anything for poetic flare. Enjoy and explore, please do, I implore. Let’s talk about life bizarre ’cause it’s pretty complex stuff, said Harvey Pekar. Go to book page.
THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: THE VERY LONG YEAR SIX:
Running from June 2020 to March 2024, readers received news straight from A.P. Fuchs’s bunker studio at Axiom-man Central that was meant to engage, entertain, and have some fun. Go to book page.
The Canister X Transmission: The Very Long Year Six
Begin transmission . . .
Running from June 2020 to March 2024, The Canister X Transmission was sent via email to readers worldwide.
Readers received news straight from A.P. Fuchs’s bunker studio at Axiom-man Central that was meant to engage, entertain, and have some fun.
The Very Long Year Six took a long time to fulfill. It was a time of A.P. Fuchs’s settlement into a new life and a new way of doing things. Ups and downs occurred, but in the end, art and writing prevailed.
Topics include: the work log, blog headlines, content release notices, promotion of new work, and more.
Exclusive to this collection is a one-shot newsletter, Issue Two Hundred Sixty-one A, unavailable anywhere else.
Welcome to The Canister X Transmission: The Very Long Year Six
On Monday, THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: THE VERY LONG YEAR SIX went off to press and will be available in paperback and eBook when it comes out. The collection, like the others, has a bonus newsletter only available through the collection.
I’m excited to get this collection out. Normally, it takes a bit before a newsletter year is compiled for publication, but resuming pace from years gone by, I wanted this out as soon as possible after leading my newsletter readers into YEAR SEVEN (which you’re welcome to join, by the way; free is free).
Anyway, watch this space.
Official book page and announcement forthcoming.
(And once the book is ready at the printer’s, I’ll be getting some copies in and will resume my Book Spotlight series and talk about each volume because each newsletter year is different.)
Just a simple thank you to those who have been supporting my poetry book, CAUGHT IN BLACK HEADLIGHTS. It means a lot that a book of verse and rhyme are catching peoples’ interest.
Of course, poetry had to lose out to superheroes and monsters, but who doesn’t love METAHUMANS VS THE UNDEAD?
Authortube: How to Write Your Back Cover Synopsis | 3 Easy Steps
Most writers complain when it comes to part of making a book where the back cover synopsis has to be written. Plenty of writers struggle with writing it . . . but it doesn’t have to be that way because, in truth, it’s a basic process. Case in point: If you’re able to sum up your book in one to four words as a title, it’s guaranteed you can sum up the same but just a little more loosely.
Follow these three simple steps and you’ll be writing your back cover synopsis with ease.

Realm of Heroes and Monsters: Story Time Podcast Now on Patreon
It’s a work-in-progress but all episodes of the REALM AND HEROES: STORY TIME podcast with A.P. FUCHS are now being uploaded to Patreon with free access to all. The feed also syncs with Spotify, if that’s your podcast venue.
It’ll take a bit to upload them all but we’re making steady progress. The watch/listen version is already there but I wanted the purely audio version there as well since, well, that’s what podcasts are: audio. I’m just really glad the Story Time Podcast is now on Patreon.
Join me and my patrons for horror, monsters, superheroes, books, comics, essays, and a whole bunch of other stuff–including the podcast!–on Patreon via the graphic above.
