It’s the Man of Steel versus the Most Powerful Man in the Universe in today’s episode of Funko Friday! To change things up, we take a look a couple of Funko Pop! enamel pins, the stories behind the them, and then the big Pop Culture question: Who would win in a fight? Superman or He-Man?
Publishing Books: The First Half of 2024 in Review
Since we’re at the halfway mark of 2024, I thought this would be a good time to review what’s been published this year so far. Link to book page in the descriptions, but this is where we stand so far in publishing books this year.
There will be a publishing gap until later in the fall. There might be one thing, but that’s in floating status at the moment. The work is done. Just an issue of assembly.
AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY:
Surrounded by a strange red mist, Axiom-man finds himself in a world not his own. Not again. Meeting a man who calls himself the Crimson Cloak, Axiom-man and this red stranger must fight their way through a hotel of madness where each new floor brings on a deadly challenge. Go to book page.
CAUGHT IN BLACK HEADLIGHTS: POETRY COLLECTION:
All right, World, this is how it’s going to be: Rhymes and verse, Melodies rehearsed, across life’s rocky sea. Read a poem, maybe two, pick three if you wish to dare. Ramblings and coherence, sometimes jots of incoherence, anything for poetic flare. Enjoy and explore, please do, I implore. Let’s talk about life bizarre ’cause it’s pretty complex stuff, said Harvey Pekar. Go to book page.
THE CANISTER X TRANSMISSION: THE VERY LONG YEAR SIX:
Running from June 2020 to March 2024, readers received news straight from A.P. Fuchs’s bunker studio at Axiom-man Central that was meant to engage, entertain, and have some fun. Go to book page.
Max Fleischer Mego Superman and Toony Comics Superman Unboxing
So, good news first. Our Max Fleischer Mego Superman is perfect. I love it and I’m sure you will, too. A shorts video will be soon enough to do a close up of the figure.
As for the Toony Comics Superman, well, let’s just say Amazon really needs to improve their service.
Funko Friday: Jim Lee Superman and Bombshell Supergirl Funko Pops
Here I present the first Superrman Funko Pop! I ever got. It was a gift. This your classic Jim Lee Superman and with him in this video is the pink breast cancer awareness DC Bombshells Supergirl! Doesn’t she look cute?
Just a simple thank you to those who have been supporting my poetry book, CAUGHT IN BLACK HEADLIGHTS. It means a lot that a book of verse and rhyme are catching peoples’ interest.
Of course, poetry had to lose out to superheroes and monsters, but who doesn’t love METAHUMANS VS THE UNDEAD?
Funko Friday: Casey Jones and Nightwing Funko Pops
Welcome to Funko Fridays where we’ll look at a couple of Funko Pops with a little story behind each as to why they were chosen for a particular video. Today we have Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Nightwing, my second favorite superhero to Superman.
Don’t forget to stay to the end for the close-up videos that takes a solid look at each vinyl figure.
We’ve been busy behind the scenes here at Axiom-man Central. Here’s a rundown of what’s currently going on this superhero year:
AXIOM-MAN: THE SUMMONING: About 1/3 complete with plans to finish mid-July then move on to AXIOM-MAN: TRANSFORMATIONS.
Axiom-man in-house collectibles for direct order and conventions and signings: Playing cards – in and done. Stickers – in and done. Special high-end-soon-to-be-revealed Axiom-man collectible – in production with an ETA at Axiom-man Central of approximately two weeks.
Blog/website coding upgrade: In process but gaining ground.
Patreon: New material being slowly added for future postings.
In-house book stock: Under inventory review with the mind to get in copies of the first half of the year’s releases in July plus any additional stock I might need.
Secret FREDRIKUS project: Slowly coming along. Very slowly.
Freelancing: Two projects in the pipeline
That’s about all my headspace can handle at the moment for immediate work. There are some other up-in-the-air items as well, but those are in a floating-in-the-ether stage without any firm landing point.
All we can do is focus on the above, get it done, then continue.
As you can see, the writing life is just like the movies. I have an assistant, a publisher ringing my phone off the hook because I’m late on deadline and they need the manuscript ASAP, stacks of notebooks and looms of paper. Books line the walls and typewriters and pens litter the table.
But if you squint your eyes just the right way, you’ll see the truth about a writer writing. This is how I bring you stories. This is where the work is done.
The iconic scene from SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE hits the Funko Pop line as this wonderful and romantic set of two Funko Pops of Superman and Lois enjoying a flight together. Hmmm . . . I wonder if she’ll start interally monologuing?
I had to get this set. SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE was a massive part of my childhood and Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder are my favorite Superman and Lois duo. I got to meet Margot in real life prior to her passing. Have a picture of us. She was a very nice lady and I’m sorry she has left us.
Check out these sweet superhero playing cards featuring Winnipeg’s Cobalt Crusader, Axiom-man. With art from the tenth-anniversay special edition of the first novel painted by Jeremy Scott, and super slick face cards, this is one deck you don’t want to miss.
