I’m also the writer/artist of the webcomic, Fredrikus, which you can read from the beginning here.

    Axiom-man Tenth-Year Anniversary Special Edition

With AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY coming out very soon, I thought it’d be a good idea to (re)share a two superhero essays on this site in preparation for the Cobalt Crusader to return.

These essays were written a while back but still ring true today in terms of writing superhero fiction.

First, get ready for AXIOM-MAN/CRIMSON CLOAK: SCARLET SYNERGY by checking out THE AXIOM-MAN SAGA in its entirety (or at least the first book).

    Essays:

The Axiom-man Origin and Why I Write Superhero Fiction

The Redsaw Origin and How I Write Supervillains

    Thanks for checking these out.

    Axiom-man returns soon . . .

Collecting 101: How I Afford my Toy Collection

Looney Tunes Superheroes DC Comics Mashup

If you watch my YouTube channel, the thought has probably crossed your mind as to how I can afford my collecting hobby and toy collection. The truth is: I can’t. I’m a struggling artist like most out there.

    Here’s what I do:

    1) Never pay retail if/when possible. The majority of my collection comes from dollar stores like Dollar Tree and Dollarama. Example: action figures that retail at the toy store or comic shop for $20+ (before taxes), I can get for $5 or less. Same with the hotwheels. All from the dollar store. And the Funkos? Well…

    2) Find a vendor with good deals where things are always discounted, not because something’s wrong with it, but simply because it’s a more affordable vendor. Again, never pay retail if it can be helped.

    3) Plan your shipping. Not all vendors offer free shipping upon purchase so what you do is save up and get a bunch of collectibles at once. Yes, a larger bill but you would have spent the same amount on the collectibles anyway so that renders that argument moot. What you’re doing by buying in bulk is amortizing the shipping cost across several units so your per-unit shipping cost goes way down.

    4) Gifts. People know I love action figures and toys so I get a bunch of those as gifts, and it’s those gifts I share with you, like my Superman Christmas video. Not talking value here but strictly retail, out of my entire collection out of all the things I collect, I’ve paid about half retail all told. Half.

Yes, us Winnipeggers are cheap and know how to find a deal. We only pay retail if absolutely required.

That’s my secret. (Oh, and you guys checking out my books and comics helps too.)

    Peace.

Yet another unearthed package here at Axiom-man Central, this time from a Kickstarter I backed a good while ago called POISON IVY GULCH SADDLES UP by Max West. It’s a book of cartoon strips collecting Max’s webcomic of the same name.

Very cool to have and finally unbox. I’ve always been a fan of Max’s comics so to know he was doing a western with his kind of humor was a cool thing. I definitely enjoyed the webcomic so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this collection as well.

Check out POISON IVY GULCH on the web right here.

Don’t forget to subscribe to stay up to date on all the latest videos. Seriously, there is tons of comics and books and Pop Culture all over the channel. Just a fan making stuff for fans.

    Hope you join me.

  • Self-publishing: Death and Taxes

    Self-publishing: Death and Taxes

    self-publishing death and taxes

Okay, to read about the death part, check out ZOMTROPOLIS: A RECORD OF LIFE IN A DEAD CITY. Plenty of death in there and plenty of zombies too.

But taxes. Tax season is upon up so the following is just an opinion. I am not a tax expert nor an accountant. Please obey the tax laws of your country and province/state.

The good news for self-publishers is, if you’re set up as a business (which you should be seeing as how you’re selling stuff for money), it can open doors to all sorts of deductions and write-offs.

The funny thing about taxes is you want to make as much cash as you can throughout the year but come tax time, on paper, you want to legally make as little as possible. By setting yourself up as a business, any funds spent on it could be deductible, depending where you live which means you either pay less taxes or get a bigger refund.

In Canada, we can deduct things like office supplies, printing costs, service fees, food, and a bunch of other stuff as long as the expense was related to your business and is allowed to be deducted.

Taxes for the self-publisher is a massive topic and there’s no way to give a firm guide here on this blog because readers come here from all over, but I do suggest looking into the above as per the tax laws of your place of residence. It’s hard enough to make a decent income off your art. Might as well help yourself keep more of your earnings if possible.

    Think about it.

For years now you’ve been scrolling this site unfulfilled and depriving your body and mind of the very things it needs to survive: Pop culture, books, comics, art.

There are so many people on this planet fighting for their lives and yet you, you waste it away as if it counts for nothing.

Here is your chance to make it right and show gratitude for the one life you’ve been given.

Every video on this channel is rigged with a specialized electromagnetic pulse which, when activated, will disrupt the electric signals in your brain, temporarily shutting it down, including survival functions like your breathing and heart rate. However, there is one button on this channel you can click that will lead to your salvation.

Will you continue to slowly decay without pop culture fulfillment, or will you choose to live and take hold of this precious life that you have been taking for granted.

    The answer is red.

Live or die. Make your choice.

  • Open for Interviews

    Open for Interviews

    open for interviews

Last Sunday I interviewed with Travis Bruce for his Horror Realm YouTube channel. We had a blast last time talking about GIGANTI-GATOR DEATH MACHINE: TRIPLE FEATURE and all sorts of superhero talk and exploration.

This time we got down to business and talked ZOMTROPOLIS: A RECORD OF LIFE IN A DEAD CITY. I was told the interview will air sometime this weekend so watch this space for a posting when it does.

I’ve done a ton of interviews over the years, everything from a fellow creator’s blog straight through to radio and TV. I’m always open to doing more so if you’re interested in having me on your program or website, please let me know. We can talk books, comics, writing and drawing processes, recent releases, superheroes, monsters, and more!

Let me know. Open for interviews. Thanks.

    Cheers.

  • Why I Post What I Do – Author Blogs

Posted on February 27, 2024 5:05 am by A.P. Fuchs
    Author Blogs

Many author blogs or websites are just about that: writing and books.

Which is 100% fine. I used to do it. Many others I know still do it. But do you see that site banner up there? It says three things: Writer, Artist, Creator. And it’s the latter part that explains why I don’t just post about books and comics (as awesome as those are).

I’ve talked about it before and I’ll mention it again, this site is about the long game in my creator/creative journey. It’s a showcase of the various crafts I practice. It’s also an information and entertainment source for you.

Why the hotwheels? Why the Funko Pops!? Why the action figures and playing cards? Because the film medium is something I also enjoy. My skillset might not be top-notch (most of what I do behind the scenes is based off what I learned in high school multimedia class 25 years ago . . . and it still works).

These creations and showcases are meant to compliment the books and comics and show that those things are made by a fan for the fans.

Some stumbles across one of my posts via a search engine and soon they are whisked into a realm of heroes and monsters and fandom entertainment. Author blogs can be more than just books and writing, if you want.

    It’s that simple.

Like I always say, there’s a method to the madness.
