Status Report: Notes from Sabbatical – 110220:

We’re still on the mend here at Axiom-man Central. Things are moving along but at a much slower pace. Secret Project No. 3 has been taking up most of my time art-wise, and resting has been taking up most of my time self-care-wise.

I can’t believe it’s already November. I had so many plans for 2020–as, I’m sure, a lot of you did–but 2020 has been one gong show after another so, unfortunately, I know my year-long plans won’t be completed like I would like, which is disheartening. Nevertheless, things are still getting done so I’ll take that as a win.

This concludes Status Report: Notes from Sabbatical – 110220.

  • Secret Project No. 3 Update

    secret project no. 3

It’s been decided that I’m dusting off the notebook for Secret Project No. 3. I wrote it a long time ago and now it’s time to turn it into a piece of art for you to enjoy.

What Secret Project No. 3 is, is my little secret until reveal (however, the details of this project were revealed on the Behind the Scenes tier on Patreon).

I’m confident you guys are going to dig it when it comes out.

    Onward.

My Patreon Index: What You Can Expect as my Patron

    Patreon Logo

Patreon has been a lot of fun since the get-go. There was a learning curve–just like for all things–but we’ve settled into a groove. And while true there will be new tiers as the year goes on, the current tier structure of Serialized Novels, Essays, Behind the Scenes, and the Gold Standard is working out just fine.

And I want you to be a part of the journey.

Here are some index-like stats and summaries to let you know what’s presently on the page:

    Serialized Novels ($1 a month)

Presently airing is Gigantigator Death Machine. The majority of the book is uploaded with a new chapter posting every two weeks. Lots already there for this story about a group of young adults wanting a simple beer-fest getaway with friends that quickly turns into a race for their lives against a giant, bloodthirsty alligator. This is pure creature feature B-horror with all the fun and guts B-horror is known for.

    Essays ($2 a month)

This tier gives you access to the serial novel as well as essays focusing on the creative arts industry.

The following essays are available for immediate reading:

The Secret to Social Media Success Part 1
The Secret to Social Media Success Part 2
The Secret to Social Media Success Part 3
How to Write Well Every Time: Proper Writing
The Road Back: How to Create Again After a Hiatus
    Spontaneous Book or Comic Marketing
How to Maintain a Blogging Schedule

Behind the Scenes ($5 a month)

This tier gives you access to the serial novel, the essays, and behind-the-scenes looks unavailable anywhere else. Plus, you also get a cool A.P. Fuchs/Canister X Official Membership Card with your name on it.

    Presently shared:

Behind the Scenes – Studio Space 091319
Behind the Scenes – Secret Project No. 3 092719
Behind the Scenes – Web Interface 100419
    Behind the Scenes – Axiom-man/Auroraman Artwork 110119
Behind the Scenes – New Studio Space 122419
Behind the Scenes – Secret Project No. 3 Pages 012120

    Gold Standard ($30 a month)

This tier gives you all the benefits of the previous tiers plus every month I will mail out to you a signed and, if you choose, personalized hardcopy book or comic from my bibliography to add to your collection. Comics come bagged and boarded.

The books and comics that I’m drawing from are available for viewing in my Book and Comic Shop. Take a look to get an idea as to what to expect in your mailbox.

Lastly, as regular content for all the tiers, not only do you receive whatever items from the tier you choose, I also post patron-only blog posts and reveals, video content, and messages for special occassions.

Thank you. Hope you enjoyed this little index of what’s presently available on my Patreon page and, of course, more content will be added as February rolls along. Hope you join me and my other patrons for more intrigue, information, entertainment, and fun as we head further into 2020.

Please join myself and my other patrons on Patreon by going here.

For further reading, here is a blog post from about a month after being on the Patreon platform and my thoughts thereof.

    See you on Patreon!

  • Full Creative Plate

    Full Creative Plate
This photo is indicative of the work week thus far.

I have a full creative plate.

Lots going on, with some projects for clients on the tail-end of completion, Project Rebuild in full swing, and working on other projects both in terms of on-line content and for hardcopy books and comics. While this week seemed full on the onset, the load is already beginning to lighten due to tying up some things yesterday. I figured out on the weekend why things have seemed hectic: Project Rebirth. When Project Rebirth started in the fall, it was a project that had a lot of moving parts and a lot of little tasks associated with it so each day I was doing a plethora of things to get my career running again. Now, and I’m fairly sure I’ve previously mentioned, my workflow is shifting to fewer things in the day because those fewer things take more time. In the end, this switch-up in working is a welcome one because I nearly crashed prior to the Holidays with juggling so many things.

Anyway, adjustments made. Focus change pleasant.

Speaking of focus and zeroing in, today I posted a couple of pages to Patreon of pencils from Secret Project No. 3, showing what these things look like before they’re ever printed in comic book form. Go here to check it out and read past patron-only blog posts, essays, a serial novel, and more.

  • Secret Project No. 3: Drawing Phase Begins

Secret Project No 3 Notebook and Paper

Today, the drawing phase of Secret Project No. 3 begins!

This is a horror comic that I showed a very brief glimpse of on my Patreon’s behind-the-scenes tier. I haven’t really mentioned it here on the blog but it’s a project I’ve been sitting on for a decent chunk of time (two years, maybe?). A few pages are finished but the strips inside are not. Time to get the whole thing done and published. Since it’s a full-sized issue, and considering the time it takes to make comics, this won’t be available until early next year.

With 2020 right around the corner and taking into account my overall plan regarding the “things I need to finish” from Project Rebirth, it’s time to get my butt in gear and get this particular project complete. (See this blog entry regarding what “things I need to finish” is all about.)

A title is still being settled upon. I will share it with you once I figure out what it is.

In the meantime, may the drawing phase commence!

  • What is Coming Up in 2017

    A.P. Fuchs 2017

    I commit to nothing.

    Bwahahaha.

    Post over.

    Kidding.

However, I meant the above: I commit to nothing.

Instead of doing the usual writer shtick of announcing what projects are coming out and when, I’m simply going to announce them as I complete them.

There are only three confirmed titles coming from me in 2017 thus far. They have already been announced on this blog, but I will mention them again and mention why I know they are guaranteed to be released.

The Canister X Transmission: Year Three – This is being written week-to-week and, like Years One and Two, the collections have been published within a couple of months of that newsletter’s year having ended.

Untitled Flash Fiction Collection – This is part of the Year Three experience, so each week a new piece of flash fiction is sent out to readers. A total of 60 pieces of flash fiction will comprise this collection–52 from the weekly newsletter, a 53rd from the collected edition of the newsletter–and the remainder to be written afterward.

Axiom-man and Auroraman: Frozen Storm – This is a novel I will be writing for a kickstarter project that begins in March. Since it’s being kickstarted, and assuming Auroraman creator Jeff Burton and I hit our goal, this book will be published on time for backers.

Regarding Secret Project No. 1 and Secret Project No. 3–projects mentioned in my newsletter–they will be announced upon completion. What about Secret Project No. 2, you ask? Since it ties directly into Secret Project No. 1, I can’t say anything about it just yet.

As for other works in various stages of finishing, same deal: they will be announced upon completion.

    Commit to nothing.

I have also restructured my 2017 on-line marketing efforts and just today finished automating the whole year. There will be some manual posts but the rest will be the social media bots doing my bidding.

Your best bet in keeping up-to-date on things is by regularly checking this blog or subscribing to my newsletter.

Have a safe and Happy New Year.

    See you in 2017.
