  • ANNOUNCEMENT: Coscom Entertainment Goes to Simon and Schuster!!

      admin

Coscom Entertainment is pleased to announce that Simon and Schuster’s Gallery Books imprint (formerly Pocket Books) has acquired the rights to reprint two of its mashup novels, The War of the Worlds Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies by H.G. Wells and Eric S. Brown, as well as Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim by Mark Twain and W. Bill Czolgosz.

We’re thrilled as a company to be a part of this deal as well as having the wonderful opportunity to co-brand these titles with Gallery Books.

“This is just awesome and so far everything has been great between myself, Gallery and my agent behind-the-scenes. It’s exciting because this isn’t just about reprinting a couple of books with them. This is an opportunity to now let Coscom Entertainment have a foot in the mass market scene, and I’m eager to see where the success of these upcoming books takes my writers and the company as a whole,” says Coscom Entertainment Publisher A.P. Fuchs.

Here’s to the future, and a special congrats to the authors involved. Likewise, a public thank you to Coscom’s agent, Evan Gregory of the Ethan Ellenberg Literary Agency of New York, for arranging the deal.

(As a side note, the current editions of these books will be going out of print in the next few months so if you’re a collector, now would be a good time to snag one of the original Coscom Entertainment editions while they’re still available. Thanks.)

  • Wrapping Up Werewolves and Bigfoot

I’m in the process of wrapping up a bunch of projects for Coscom Entertainment, so in the coming weeks you’ll be seeing a slew of them hitting the market. They’re real cool, two of which are:

Bigfoot War by Eric S. Brown and Animal Behavior and Other Tales of Lycanthropy by Keith Gouveia.

I’m heading up the cover art for these two as part of my effort to do more drawing. I did the pencils for Gouveia’s werewolf book on Friday night. They look sweet (sounds arrogant, I know, but they really turned out well). They’ll be hitting the painting stage either tonight or tomorrow.

On the agenda for today is to complete the interiors for both those books and get them press-ready.

Though I said I was almost done, Zombie Fight Night keeps growing. Churned out a good chunk of words yesterday and hope to do some more on it later today.

Yeah, lots happening. Real busy. Loads of fun.

Library of Horror Press has just released their new anthology called Wolves of War. It features my World War II werewolf tale, “World Were II,” and follows the story of a soldier trapped in a bunker with his father. The problem: something strange is happening to the soldier that he can’t quite explain.

Wolves of War was edited by World War of the Dead and The War of the Worlds Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies author Eric S. Brown.

    Hope you enjoy my story.

You can find the book on Amazon.com here. Just click the image below.

    Thanks.

Sunday was the final day of the con.

After such a stellar Saturday traffic- and saleswise, we weren’t sure what Sunday would bring because, since I was also an exhibitor for the two years leading up to this one, Sundays had demonstrated a significant drop in attendance and book sales.

Well, let’s just say this year the trend changed. Though not as much as Saturday, people traffic was still large, and we did roughly 75% the business we did the day before.

Not only that, my wife and I decided to spice things up a bit and join in the costumed fun.

Here is Sunday, the final day of Central Canada Comic Con 2009.

Saturday was just awesome. The place was packed. Costumed con-goers walked the floor. People crowded around tables and booths to get a look at the latest and greatest in comics, toys, cards and other collectibles.

Artist alley was loaded with folks showing off their skills. Guests like Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) had panels. Folks lined up forever to meet Adam West (Batman).

The Coscom Entertainment table had people coming by in a steady stream, many folks getting a kick out of my zombie novel, Blood of the Dead, which takes place in Winnipeg. Likewise, out of the classic book mash-ups on the table, The Undead World of Oz by L. Frank Baum and Ryan C. Thomas was a huge hit.

    Saturday was an absolute blast!

Though the convention officially opened on Friday, the hours were only from 5-9 pm, and so Friday was considered more a “preview night” than anything else. And it was true. We had a lot of traffic at our table, but on Friday sales were small, which was fine. I’m the same way at conventions (or any store, for that matter). Like most people, I like to browse before I buy.

Saturday, October 31, was a full day and it was when we saw the most action at the con and at our table. We also took a load of pictures, half of which I’ll be posting today, the other half tomorrow. And since Saturday had been Halloween, most of the children at the con were dressed up. The con also had a “safe Halloween” thing going on where tables could put up a Safe Halloween sign, notifying the parents and children they had candy at the ready for the kids’ goodie bags. We didn’t find out about the sign till later in the day, but we gave away candy when we could, both on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s Saturday as she went down–the first half.
