I’m pleased to announce that earlier today, Blood of the Dead hit the #18 spot on Amazon.com under the category of Christian mysteries. Why Amazon chose to make this book a “mystery,” I don’t know, as it’s a horror/action-adventure yarn with religious elements to it. Regardless, to have my book alongside such huge Christian authors like Ted Dekker and Joel C. Rosenberg is a pretty big deal for me.

Saturday, November 29, 2008 Coming up soon I’ll be at McNally Robinson’s signing copies of my new novel, “Blood of the Dead,” the latest Axiom-man adventure, “The Dead Land,” as well as the remainder of the Axiom-man series. The big focus will be on the first two. Both make great gifts for Christmas. I mean, zombies in Winnipeg? Can’t get cooler than that. What are the stories about? Well… BLOOD OF THE DEAD: One year ago, the world came to an end. First came the rain. Then came the screams. Then came the undead. The Haven became the only place in the city free of the walking dead. A place of community. A place to be safe. Now, things have changed. The zombies are coming to the Haven, seeking out the remaining survivors of the human race. Joe Bailey prowls the Haven’s streets, taking them back from the undead, each kill one step closer to reclaiming a life once stolen from him. Billie Friday and Des Nottingham soon have Joe to thank for their lives. As the dead push into the Haven, the trio is forced into the one place where folks fear to tread: the heart of the city, a place overrun with flesh-eating zombies. They soon discover they are not the only humans there. After meeting an old man with a peculiar past, Joe and the others must make one last stand against the undead or unwillingly meet the same fate. A desperate escape leads them to a place thought impossible to exist and to a discovery that will shake the future. Welcome to the end of all things. THE DEAD LAND: A young boy goes missing. Taken, in the middle of the night. No clues. Nothing except the remnants of a black cloud, like the one coughed up from inside the Doorway of Darkness. A black cloud that takes Axiom-man to a world not his own. A dead world, where a gray and brown sky shrouds an entire city in a miasma of decay. The streets are empty. The young boy is nowhere to be found. Those he does find…are dead. And walking. Please come down and say hello. I look forward to seeing you there. If you’re unable to attend, copies of “Blood of the Dead” and “The Dead Land” are available on-line. Here’s an interesting article from Writer’s Digest regarding the current phase of eBooks and their future.
Only two things left to do:
- Bible reading
- go to bed
Yeah, I can handle that.
Headache finally abated a couple of hours ago.
Phone call – complete.
Shopping – complete. (The fresh air helped the head.)
Editing – complete.
Story reviewing – underway.
All is not lost. Cool.
Got a busy day ahead of me:
- work on edits for one of Coscom Entertainment’s novels
- work through at least 5 submissions to Dead Science
- make a phone call to a fellow author/publisher
- go shopping
I have a jaw issue. The doc calls it “clenching.” I clench my jaw when I sleep and, without realizing it, during the day as well. I woke up with a headache today despite using the jaw guard they gave me to help with this. The pain is on the left side, right where the jaw bone meets my skull. It moves upward in behind my eye and into my head, creating brain fog. Hard to do much of anything. Using a hot compress now. Hopefully that’ll help.
Yeah, lots to do and I’m screwed.
My company, Coscom Entertainment, is taking off. My new zombie book (released July 15), Blood of the Dead, is selling steadily, and I’m working on some exciting projects for Coscom Entertainment’s monster book line. See http://coscomentertainment.blogspot.com for more info on those.
What’s going on right now? It’s raining out, is what. It’s also getting cold and we’ve got a good pile of slush on the ground here in Winnipeg. Not fun. Ah well. This is Winnipeg and snow is what we do (it’s supposed to snow later on tonight).
I’ll be in touch.
